Bourne Men in Division 2 of the Slazenger Lincolnshire Doubles League could not build on their opening match success and were defeated at Rushtons 7-2. Bourne fielded a team of youth and experience against their strong opponents. There were wins for Tom Cooke partnering Nathan Jones 6-4 6-2, and Will Palmer with Matthew Hassall 6-1 6-4, but further success eluded the team in the remaining seven rubbers. Cooke and Jones lost 0-6 1-6 and 4-6 2-6, Palmer and Hassall 3-6 3-6 and 2-6 0-6. Iain Ross and Edward Whitfield came close to winning one of their three rubbers, but lost on a third set tie break. Their other two rubbers ended in defeat 3-6 1-6 and 2-6 2-6.
