Bourne football is well and truly on the up and there is plenty of promising young talent in the town coming through.

On Sunday evening Bourne Town Juniors Under 18 Blacks were officially crowned the Peterborough and District Youth League Division One champions for 2015/2016 season.

This is a fantastic end to an 11 year journey from Under 8s, for the team who won on goal difference, by a long way, 18 goals to be precisise, over big town rivals Peterborough Northern Star.

Bourne completed their league campaign the weekend before last against Glinton and Northborough Amber with a 5-1 win which secured them the league title and the honours that go with it.

Three of the team have completed the whole 11 year campaign, goalie Scott Buxton and defenders James Moss and George Burke. Whilst Jordan Cotton started with another Bourne team before moving sides when the other folded.

This victory came after the Bourne Ladies secured their title two weeks a go and capped a fantastic year for the Bourne Town Junior Club.

Manager Paul Burke said: “The team are truly grateful for the hard work put in by the committee of this superb club and will miss wearing their colours next season.”

The winning squad are: Scott Buxton, Max Cooper (C), George Burke, Jordan Cotton, James Moss, Zac Allen, George Hick, Conor Culverhouse, Ollie Reid, Ben Moss, Lewis Fountain, Ian Goode, Jimmy Morten, James Roberts, Zak Munton, Ross Hollingsworth
