Bourne teenager Sian Botteley, riding for Velosure Starley Primal Race Team, opened her account for the 2015 season with a fantastic double victory last weekend.

Firstly on Saturday, she travelled down to Kent to take part in the March Hare Classic, where she scored a convincing win in the one hour race.

She followed this up with an even more impressive victory at the Ipswich Spring Scramble race over 100km, where once again she left what remained of the 45 rider field in her wake after unleashing a devastating turn of speed that pulled her 10 metres clear of her nearest rivals in the last 150 metres of the race.

Botteley will be hoping to carry her good form to Belgium this week, where she takes on some of the best riders in the world in the Dwars Door Vlaanderen on Wednesday and Gent Wevelgem Classic on Sunday.

Elsewhere her former Bourne Wheeler teammates had a busy weekend spreading themselves far afield and gaining some excellent results.

Brother and sister, Bryn and Emily Richards were the pick of the club’s riders with both claiming podium placings at the Mud Sweat and Tears Mountain Bike Races on Sunday near Sudbury, having both raced at Milton Keynes the previous day, where Emily came fourth in the under 12 girls race and Bryn placing fifth in the boys under 12s.

Also racing at Milton Keynes were Jess Woodworth (5th in the U16 girls), Molly Peel (3rd in the U12 girls).

Tim James just missed out on a top 15 performance in the first round of the East Midlands Road Race League, at Handbury in Staffordshire.

With the first round of the National Junior Series this coming weekend at Abdergavenny, Tim and teammate Robbie Ward who is also competing, will hope to put in a good performance in his first race at this level.

Adam Botteley was racing with his sister in Kent and put in a solid performance, placing 12th in the under 16 boys race.
