Bourne Wheelers celebrate a remarkable year

Bourne Wheelers Cycling Club held there annual prize presentation evening on Saturday night at the Toft House Hotel.

It was the fifth year the club has held an award evening and after a hugely successful season for the club it was only right that the club’s members gathered at a new location to celebrate the year’s achievements.

Guest speaker for the evening was local celebrity Dougie McClure who told the 75 club members stories about his life and racing.

Dougie then presented the prizes to the winners and after a raffle, an auction was held for a signed Lotto Soudal jersey as worn by the World Tour Team at this year’s Tour of Britain.

The winners were: Tom Comben: Club 10 and 25 champion. Matthew Green. 2 up champion with Tom Comben and club points champion.

Cliff Hilless: club veteran champion. Tim James: club hill climb champion and road race champion.

Bart Kieres: Cyclo-cross champion. Peer Waddingham: Handicap 10 mile league champion.

Emma Rodgers: Ladies 10 mile champion.

Youths: Bryn Richards: 10 mile champion, cyclo-cross champion, hill climb champion and Points Champion. Georgia Bullard: girls 10 mile champion. Jessica Woodworth: Youth Road Race Champion.

Adam Botteley: Youth 5 mile champion. Alex Galpin: Under 12 cyclo-cross champion. Dylan Snoek:Most improved rider. Molly Peel: Attendance Award and Heckington Show winning team: Adam Botteley, Bryn and Emily Richards, Jessica Woodworth, Harry Garfield and Molly Peel.

Clubman of the year: Robin Day. Merit Cup Winner : Mark Botteley
