Burghley Park have been forced to cancel their cricket week and popular sixes tournament for a second successive year.

The Stamford club had hoped to host the event next month following the cancellation of last year's planned staging due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the Government's announcement this week about delaying the final stage of its road-map left organisers to curtail their plans.

A club statement said: "Following the UK Government's announcement on Monday, it is with great regret that the decision has been taken to cancel our cricket week for 2021.

"We know everyone will all be saddened by this news, but be assured that we will be back bigger and better.

"Finally we wanted to take this opportunity to thank our supporters, sponsors and partners for their continued collaboration and commitment during Cricket Week and very much look forward to welcoming you all back soon."
