Stamford sink Ufford to secure place in last eight

Burghley Sixes holders Oundle became the first side to secure their place in Friday's finals night after an emphatic quarter-final success.

They blitzed Barnack on Wednesday night by 42 runs with Conor Craig hitting a half-century for the reigning champions.

Craig cracked 51 while Peter Foster made 47 as Oundle raced to 98 from their five overs with Barnack making 56 in reply.

Barnack did have the consolation of claiming the Buckles Champagne Moment of the night which went to Waqas Butt for a stunning caught and bowled with the first ball of Oundle's innings.

Stamford and Newborough will be in quarter-final action tonight (Thursday) after winning the last two first round games.

Town totalled 91 in their victory over Ufford Park with Chris Bore blasting 33 and Alex Birch adding 25.

Wahid Javed was Ufford's top scorer with 33 while Joe Harrington hit 22 as they fell 13 runs short in their reply.

Uffington lost out by 17 runs against Newborough who posted 88 from their five overs with Vamshi Parvathaneni plundering an unbeaten 48 while Dave Cooper cracked 22.

Quewin O'Connor led the Uffington reply with 30 while Tom Bentley blasted 20.

Tonight's quarter-finals will see hosts Burghley Park take on Bourne, Uppingham face Oakham in a Rutland derby with Stamford playing Newborough.
