MATTHEW Butcher claimed a hat-trick for North Luffenham but his side still lost by five wickets on Saturday.

Butcher’s wickets came from just 10 balls and 11 runs as Luffenham’s opponents, Blankney chased 198-4.

Earlier Sam Hodson had made 93 and David Head 50 as Luffeham sought a return to their early season form when they topped the South Lincs League’s third division.

But Blankney, who remain in the promotion race responded with a solid innings, making 200-4 from a little under 41 overs.

Blankney are now tied with two other sides for the top spot. For Luffenham it’s a case of what might have been as their season drew to a close with nine wins from 18 games..
