Oakham recorded a comprehensive seven wicket victory at Billesdon in the Leicestershire League Division Two on Saturday.

The hosts won the toss and chose to bat. Opener Jamie Chand hit 46 for Billesdon but he saw his partners at the other end of the wicket come and go fairly quickly.

Joshua Lapwoth was caught by Cameron Flowers off the bowling of Chalie Baker, having made just three runs.

Billesdon wicket keeper D Weeding made even fewer runs with just a single to his name before he too was caught, this time held by Matt Osman off the bowling of Calvin Flowers.

Skipper Tom Miles didn’t even bother to trouble the scorers, he was bowled by Baker for his second of the afternoon. James Nourish came in at number five and added 46 before he was trapped lbw by Richard Martin.

Opener Chand was out to a run out by Nick Davies.

Flowers took his second of the afternoon, Voss for three, to finish with 2-41, however it was bit of a wild afternoon of bowling for Cameron who also had 21 wides.

Dan Snaith came in and made a big hitting and potentially damaging 67 not out late in the order to help Billesdon on to 237-6.

Oakham’s other wicket takers, Baker, finished on 2-59 and Martin 1-42.

Billesdon’s total after 45 overs was not inconsiderable but Oakham raced to the required target. Cameron Flowers got the ball rolling with an opening knock of 40, with Viv Nakir adding 17. Both men lost their wickets to D Beere, but in came Bhavin Shukla to hit 60 not out.

Calvin Flowers smashed a quick 71, including 12 fours and a single six to race Oakham towards their total.

Shayam Lakhani came in to take Oakham over the line with 27 not out and 238-3 in the 35th over.
