Two Bourne brothers have begun the cricket season at a blistering pace with both picking up centuries this week.
Sam Evison, 14, struck an unbeaten 106 for Bourne Cricket Club’s 2nd XI against Eaton Socon in Rutland League on Sunday and just days later his younger brother Joey cracked 102 not out for Linconshire’s U12s.
And these tons come on the back of fine innings for both players.
Sam made 58 not out in the Rutland League against Oakham a week earlier and the Stamford schoolboy has also struck 90 against Bedford Modern, 64 not out against Loughborough GS and 63 not out against Haileybury for his school.
Joey’s century was against Nottinghamshire U12s and follows an unbeaten 62 against Hertfordshire for the county side. Still 11, the Stamford Junior School pupil is playing a year ahead of his age.
Cricket is in their blood. Their dad, Gareth, played for Bourne from 1985 until 2002, Lincolnshire from 1992 until 1996 and won three England NAYC U19 caps in 1991.
