Market Deeping defeat Bourne in the opening match of the South Lincs and Border League season
A century opening partnership from Chris Jones and Ryan Bainborough laid the foundations for Market Deeping 2nds to claim derby delight against near neighbours Bourne on Saturday.
The Deeping duo put on a 112-run stand for the first wicket which helped catapult the visitors to a 56-run success against Bourne in their first matches of the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division campaign at the Abbey Lawn.
Jones hit 10 fours and two sixes to top score for Deeping with 68 while Bainborough blasted three fours and three sixes in his 35.
Experienced visiting skipper Dave Gillett also hit a half-century - which included nine boundaries - after Richard Hewitt had helped himself to three top order Deeping wickets.
James Hook (15) and Ibrahim Javed (16no) also aided the Deeping cause as they posted 230-8 from their 45 overs.
Hewitt was the pick of the Bourne bowlers with 3-49 from seven overs while Adam Hilless bagged brace with Freddie Arlott and Henry Brewster taking one apiece.
Bourne lost wickets at regular intervals in their reply with James Tickler, Kurt Storey and Tom Patchett the mainstays of their innings.
Opener Tickler made 20 and Patchett plundered two fours and three sixes in his 30 that included a 47-run stand with Storey.
Storey struck 10 boundaries himself in an unbeaten 65 not out but eventually ran out of batting partners as Bourne were bowled out for 174.
Nick Andrews was the leading wicket-taker for Deeping with 3-64 from 11 overs while Alex and Karl Green both grabbed two apiece.
Ross Barnes and Javed also took a wicket each to ensure Deeping made a winning start to their campaign.
They travel to Long Sutton on Saturday while Bourne host Grantham 2nds.
The Lincolnshire Premier League also gets underway this weekend with Market Deeping hosting Bourne in an opening day derby duel at Outgang Road.
