Two former stalwarts of Lincolnshire cricket provided the batting performances of the day in the South Lincolnshire & Border League Premier Division, David Christmas hitting an unbeaten 73 for Bourne 2nd and Simon Oakes making 74 not out for Grantham 2nd.

Billingborough were Bourne’s victims, giving Boston the opportunity to move clear at the top of the table following their six wicket win over Sleaford 2nd.

Good bowling from Scott Elleray who took four wickets, helped restrict Sleaford to 144 for eight and on 91 for one Boston looked to be cruising to victory until Simon Godby came into the attack to take three wickets for just eight runs. Tom Baxter and Ben Vella then steadied the ship, their partnership taking Boston to victory.

Christmas’ innings helped Bourne to 203-7 before Billingborough were bowled out for 79.

Oakes came to the rescue after Grantham lost early wickets, helping his side to 175-7. Adrian Wing then took five for 30 as Spalding’s reply ended on 145 for nine.

Stamford hosted a tight game, bowling Lindum Ramblers out for 126 but losing nine wickets reaching their target.

Market Deeping 2nd made it four wins out of four in Division One, John McDougall making 53 in a five wicket win over Boston 2nd for whom Luke Gilding also hit 53.

Baston claimed a four wicket win over Grantham 4th who were restricted to 118-9.
