LEARN MOREStamford Rugby Club has set their sights on making a return to action next month.
The newly-promoted Midlands 2 East (South) side has been forced to sit on the sidelines since early March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the Rugby Football Union gave clubs across the area the green light to return to contact training last week with a view to restarting matches in the new year.
Although the league campaigns will not be played this year, Stamford has arranged a number of matches for 2021 against their county colleagues to ensure a return to competitive action.
The matches could still be affected by any Covid restrictions being put in place, but Stamford plan to start their games on Saturday, January 9, with a home clash against Spalding.
Matches will follow against Kesteven, Deepings, Bourne, Sleaford and Boston before an eagerly-anticipated derby duel with Stamford College Old Boys.
