Bourne’s annual cricketing extravaganza swings into action next week.

The Lincs Premier Division club will be a hosting a series of day matches at the Abbey Lawn with the popular Hodgkinson Cup taking place each night.

Reigning holders Bourne Rugby Club will be aiming to defend their Hodgkinson Cup crown when they open proceedings on Monday night against the town’s Football Club side.

However, they are likely to face tough competition to retain their trophy this season with the Mighty Ducks side set to contain the prolific Evison brothers Sam and Joey – the latter fresh from a brilliant 185 for Nottinghamshire Under 17s last week which included a remarkable 30 fours and three sixes from 182 balls.

The Rugby Club side is set to again feature the likes of Jack Berry and Tom Dixon while the Bentley Builders line-up will be expected to challenge with Rob, Josh and Tom Bentley in their ranks alongside Rob Dunn.

Bourne Skip Hire are newcomers to the competition this season while the Baston Tarts team will include many of their South Lincs and Border League side.

The club are also encouraging ladies to watch the action as they have several softball and hardball matches throughout the rest of the season.

Day matches start at 10am with the evening matches beginning at 6.15pm, 7pm and 7.45pm respectively. The bar will be open each night with a barbecue and raffle.
