Stamford AFC are victorious against Bedworth United in the orthern Premier League Midlands Division

Stamford made an instant return to winning ways as a strong second half showing secured victory over Bedworth United on Saturday.

The Daniels ran out 4-1 winners in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division to bounce back quickly after last Tuesday's dramatic late defeat at Spalding.

All of the goals came in the second 45 minutes of the contest at the Zeeco Stadium after home goalkeeper Dan Haystead had made a couple of crucial saves to ensure the sides went level at the break.

Jake Duffy gave Stamford the lead three minutes after the restart with his first goal since returning to the club before Bedworth's Ryan Moore put through his own net to double the Daniels' lead with 20 minutes remaining.

Harry Vince added the third from the penalty spot in the 75th minute with Joe Butterworth completing Stamford's tally late on before Bedworth claimed a consolation through Liam Lockett.

The victory puts Stamford in third place in the Midlands Division table ahead of Tuesday night's home clash with Chasetown who are currently fifth.

Bourne and Blackstones both fell at the first hurdle in their FA Vase matches on Saturday.

The Wakes were left to rue a number of missed chances as they went down to a 2-1 home defeat against United Counties League Division One pacesetters Belper United.

Blackstones lost 4-1 at league rivals Ingles with Liam Kavanagh netting a late consolation from the penalty spot for the Stamford side who return to action on Wednesday night when they host Harrowby United in a Division One fixture.
