Stamford AFC manager David Staff has added two more players to his squad for the forthcoming season.

Joining the Daniels is Kettering Town midfielder James Jepson and the club have agreed terms with striker Greg Smith, who played for the club for the last couple of months of the season just passed, in his second spell with the Evo-Stik NPL club.

Staff said: “‘Greg was obviously with us for the last few weeks of last season and I was keen to get him in again.

“He is completely different to the other strikers we have and is another who can still improve and he knows that.

“A good pre-season and he will be a real handful for opposition centres halves and gives us another dimension.”

Staff added: “James Jepson is also different to players we have in the midfield area.

“He is left footed which helps the balance and has good set piece delivery. He likes to get on the ball and has plenty of experience and football know how. He joins fresh on the back of a good season at Kettering Tow.”

Jepson is the fourth player Stamford have secured from Kettering during the off-season.

Last week the Daniels announced that former fan favourite Andy Hall will return.

The goal-scoring midfielder helped Stamford to promotion.

The other Poppies players to join Stamford this summer are goalkeeper Richard Knight and forward Josh Moreman, both of whom appeared for Stamford in recent seasons.

Kettering won the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One last season.
