Market Deeping eased into the Stamford KO Shield Final last night (Monday) with a nine-wicket win at home to Ketton Lions.

Shaakar Mahmood struck 51 of Ketton’s 121-9, but Chris Jones (54) and Emile Kriek (51 not out) made light work of that victory target.

Deeping’s Tom Shinkins (5-15) claimed the man-of-the-match award though with Jackson Andrews (2-20) offering him most support.

Meanwhile King’s Keys pulled off a major shock in the other KO Shield semi-final by winning by three wickets at Jaidka Cup champions Nassington Knights.

Nassington, who had lost just one of 11 Twenty/20 matches all season before last night - they also won the Stamford Charity Cup last week (June 29) - mustered just 95-9 in their 20 overs, a total the Peterborough side passed with 26 balls to spare.

A. Ali and Shazad Amir claimed three wickets apiece for King’s Keys in another low-scoring game on the difficult Nassington playing surface. Nassington’s Nick Walker top scored in the match with just 29.

King’s Keys’ victory has thwarted a repeat of this summer’s Jaidka final when Nassington defeated Market Deeping in dramatic fashion.

The Stamford KO final will be played next Monday (July 13) at a venue to be decided.
