Deepings hit by second-half replies
Four second-half tries sent Deepings to defeat against second-placed Queens.
The home team were 10-7 ahead at the break but they were unable to hold on.
Skipper Guy Cunningham said: “It was a good game but in the end we just came up short.
“The majority of Queens’ tries came from rolling mauls and we couldn’t stop them.
“We were knocking on the door for a fourth try of our won and we couldn’t quite get what we deserved.
“Overall, though, I was really happy with the performance – even though we lost.
“Queens are pushing hard for promotion with a top-three finish and they beat us by more than 50 points in the away game just before Christmas.
“It’s a good sign that we’ve come back and nearly beaten them on Saturday.”
Deepings’ tries were scored by Cunningham, Ali Shaw and Adam Edwards.
The final game of the season is at Sileby Town on Saturday.
