Popular physio also departing after linking up with King's Lynn

Dependable defender Jordon Cooke has become the second Stamford player from last season to agree a higher level switch for the coming campaign.

Cooke has agreed a deal to join Evo-Stik Premier Division Matlock Town after a solid maiden season at the Zeeco Stadium.

He was a virtual ever-present in the Stamford side after joining from North Ferriby and was voted players’ player of the year by his team-mates.

His departure follows that of striker Gregg Smith who will be joining home-town club Grantham Town for their Premier Division campaign.

Stamford manager Graham Drury commented: “I’d like to wish Cookey all the best because he’s a top lad. He’s a great player and all-round top guy.

“He’s one player I didn’t want to lose. Matlock have a top player who gives 100 per cent every game.

“All the players from last season are free agents at the moment though so I’m pleased if they have got better deals at higher level clubs.

“We will move on as the club is bigger than any player. It always has been and always will be.”

Popular physio Carol Holland is also departing the Daniels after being offered the opportunity to join National League North newcomers King’s Lynn.

Holland joined the Daniels at the start of the 2016/17 season having previously worked with Drury at Holbeach United.

Drury added: “It’s been great working with Carol and she’s goes with my blessing. I really hope it’s the next step on her making it to the Football League.”

Barham has many years of experience with sales, marketing and event management. His early career included a period with Sky TV and he was involved with national marketing campaigns.

He has previous sporting credentials with Peterborough Pirates ice hockey team and almost 17 years as marketing manager for Peterborough Greyhound Stadium.

Barham has recently worked on a variety of major events at the East of England Showground and Arena.

Stamford have also added an extra friendly to their pre-season schedule.

They will travel to Northern Counties League East League Division One side Skegness Town on Saturday, July 20.

Former Daniels players Danny Brooks and Conor Marshall have both been announced as new signings for the Lilywhites.

Stamford’s opening pre-season friendly is against League One side Peterborough United on Wednesday, July 10 (7.30pm kick-off).
