Empingham to host Women’s County Championship match

Have your say

As the cricket season fast approaches, Empingham CC have most certainly got the ball rolling with some fantastic news. They have won the honour of hosting an ECB Women’s County Cricket Championship match this season.

Securing a fixture of this magnitude is a real coup for the village club and a true testament of the sterling work done by groundsman Mal Smith.

He has helped transform the Exton Road square over the last five years, which is now considered one of the best in the county.

The match looks set to be a competitive encounter with Leicestershire & Rutland playing against Scotland.

It will take place on Monday, May 26 from 11am and spectators are welcome to attend for free.

Empingham CC start their Grantham League division one season on April 27 with a trip to Belvoir.
