Organisers of the Langtoft Road Run are hoping to see hundreds of runners and spectators on the village’s streets when this year’s event takes place on Sunday, May 3.

The event, which comprises a 10k road race and a 3k fun run, is being held for the 26th time and is going from strength to strength this year - thanks to sponsorship from Market Deeping-based Empire Gym.

The 3k starts at 10.15am and features a school challenge for teams of pupils and medals for all finishers.

The 10k, which begins and finishes in Langtoft via Greatford and Barholm, starts at 11.15am, with a host of trophies up for grabs and a £100 prize if anyone sets a male or female course record.

As in previous years, the event will be raising money for groups and organisations in the area. Among those to benefit in 2014 were Langtoft’s pre-school, amateur dramatics group and football club.

Sue Archer, of the Langtoft Road Race organising committee, said: “We are delighted to be heading into this year’s event with the sponsorship of Empire Gym.

“As an event organised by volunteers and raising money for good causes, we are reliant on donations and gestures of goodwill, so its support has given us a great boost.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to Langtoft for this year’s event, whether you are a spectator or runner, and whether it’s your first time at the event or your 26th time.”
