Austin makes the step up to replace long-serving Albinson
New Stamford Rugby coach Austin Schwarz believes he has an exciting platform to build on after taking over as head coach at the Midlands 3 East (South) club.
Schwarz succeeds the long-serving Matt Albinson at Hambleton Road where he will become responsible for the first team, development side and colts.
He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having played for the club for many years and more recently having worked closely with Albinson.
Schwarz will be supported by a team of assistant coaches which include Dave Laventure, Juan Gonzalez Mendia and Michael O’Connor who will put in place a structured framework backed by many years of experience and knowledge of rugby.
They will be aiming to build on a successful final season of Albinson's reign which saw Stamford narrowly miss out on promotion on the final day of the season.
Schwarz said: "This is a really exciting opportunity for me.
"Having played for the club for many years, it’s now my great pleasure to work with the players through development and apply a fresh approach to coaching.
"The aim for me now is to build on last season and develop the senior teams further with the goal of reaching their potential and creating the ethos of ‘One Club’ through fast and exciting rugby.
"We are keen to attract new players, build the fan base and continue the focus on getting results with an emphasis on providing a competitive and fun atmosphere for all involved.
"Matt did a great job with the boys last year and I would like to personally thank him for all of his hard work and providing such an exciting platform for me to build on.
"I wish him all the best and hope to see him on the touchline at Stamford in the very near future."
Head of Rugby Dave Laventure added: "Austin was an obvious choice for the role so it’s great to have him on board.
"We have a great team and will be getting players to buy-in to new coaching styles. More player input and longer-term planning is crucial for progression of this great club. Everyone involved is looking forward to a great season ahead."
