Defensive dilemma for Deeping ahead of derby duel
Deeping Rangers will be aiming to complete a hat-trick of victories over neighbours Holbeach United when the two sides clash at the Haydon Whitham Stadium on Saturday.
The Clarets have already claimed a 3-2 home success over the Tigers when the two sides met at Outgang Road in the FA Cup this season.
They then followed that up with a 3-2 away victory in their United Counties League Premier Division duel in September.
The two sides are locked together on 36 points in the Premier Division standings with fourth-placed Holbeach having a better goal difference than their hosts who are in sixth spot.
Deeping go into the clash without dependable defensive duo Billy Stubbs (injury) and Luke Andersen (suspended).
And, having conceded seven goals in their last two games, Clarets chief Michael Goode wants his side to tighten up defensively.
He said: "We are doing alright without really hitting a good patch of form. We are not far off, but it doesn't help when you keep having to change the team about.
"There's been a little bit of disruption to the defence which had been quite stable before we got injuries and suspensions.
"We need to have a little bit of re-think because it's a big ask when you have so many derby games in such a short space of time.
"You're obviously in dreamland if you can win all three especially as you're playing sides who are there or thereabouts.
"Holbeach are right up there so we're going to have a little think about what we do defensively going forward.
"We are creating chances and scoring goals, but we have conceded too many.
"We need to approach the game on the front foot in the first half and be better defensively and cut out the lapses in concentration."
