Cottesmore Amateurs chairman Steve Duffy believes the vacant managerial post at Westray Park will provide a great opportunity for the right applicant.

The Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division club lost the services of manager Neil Miller this week after he called time on his six season spell at Westray Park.

Miller is expected to move to United Counties League Division One side Holwell Sports, leaving ambitious Amateurs on the look-out for a new manager.

Duffy commented: “Neil wants to move on and step up to test himself at a higher level and we would never stand in anyone’s way of doing that.

“We are very disappointed to lose him because he’s done a good job, but he goes with our best wishes and we’d like to thank him for everything he has done for the club.

“He’s put a lot of hours into the club and has bought into what we’re trying to do, but we’ve now got to move on as a club.

“We’re looking for an experienced manager if possible who could either come in and work alongside Richard Giblin (reserve team manager) or take it on themselves.

“The club is on a sound financial footing.

“We are working to upgrade the ground and there are some exciting things in the pipeline.

“The club is on the up and it’s a great opportunity for someone. We are an attractive proposition for someone to come in.”

Reserve boss Giblin will take charge of Cottesmore for Saturday’s Premier Division trip to Friar Lane and Epworth.

Amateurs have so far won one and drawn one of their six league games – five of which have been away from home.

A club statement following Miller’s departure said: “We received confirmation on Monday that first team manager Neil Miller has chosen to step down from his position to pursue other opportunities in the game.

“We would like to place on record our thanks for what Neil has done over the past six years and wish him well with his new challenge.

“Reserve team manager Rich Giblin will be stepping into the role in the interim and we will be inviting applications for the first team manager’s position in due course.”
