Deeping defeat champions; Bourne bag excellent away point

Stamford were hit for six on the final day of the Evo-Stik League Division One East season after being crushed by Cleethorpes on Saturday.

They fell behind inside the opening 45 seconds of the clash at the Linden Club with Scott Vernon putting the hosts ahead.

Vernon doubled Cleethorpes' advantage after just three minutes before Stamford were struck by another quick-fire double whammy in the second half.

Brody Robertson made it 3-0 after 70 minutes with Vernon then completing his hat-trick two minutes later.

Alex Flett fired home the fifth on the 76th minute mark before Robertson completed the rout with five minutes remaining.

The defeat - Stamford's heaviest of the campaign - left them with an 11th place finish.

Deeping Rangers defeated United Counties League Premier Division champions Daventry Town on a final day clash between the two top sides at the Haydon Whitham Stadium.

Cameron Johnson scored the crucial winning goal for second-placed Deeping with just six minutes remaining.

Bourne rounded off their Division One campaign with an excellent point after a 1-1 away draw at fourth-placed Bugbrooke.

Josh Randall was their marksman as Bourne brought the curtain down on their campaign with a 13th place finish.
