Deeping Rangers manager Michael Goode has called for the right mentality to stay on course for runners-up spot.

The Clarets opened up a seven-point gap to third place with Saturday’s 4-2 win away to Wellingborough Town.

Goals by David Burton-Jones, Charlie Coulson, Scott Mooney and Tom Waumsley took the unbeaten run to five games in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.

Goode said: “It was a good weekend for us, especially with defeats for Desborough Town and Eynesbury Rovers plus two dropped points for Sileby Rangers.

“Peterborough Sports are so far ahead at the top that I don’t think there is much chance of us catching them for the league title.

“Everything is still in our hands for second place and our next two games are back home.

We are unbeaten at home in the league this season so the mentality has to be right to make sure we don’t lose these games against Newport Pagnell Town and Eynesbury.

“We are unbeaten at home in the league this season so the mentality has to be right to make sure we don’t lose these games against Newport Pagnell Town and Eynesbury.

“We can enjoy a week off which also allows a rest for a couple of knocks such as Luke Hunnings who has a back injury and Richard Stainsby who has a muscle strain.”
