Forster fires four goals as Town rise to challenge
Uppingham Town reached their second cup semi-final of the season with a well-deserved 5-2 win against Oundle Town in Saturday's Peterborough Challenge Cup clash at Tod's Piece.
They will now travel to face Peterborough League Division One rivals Spalding Town in the last four after Saturday's success stretched their unbeaten run to 18 games.
Their first goal of the game came after 15 minutes when Martin Turiccki hit a terrific left-footed volley from 20 yards to give the Oundle keeper no chance.
With Uppingham looking to build on their lead they pressed forward to create a number of half chances before Rob Forster went through from a Rob Montgomery flick on to slot the ball past the keeper from just inside the box to make the score 2-0 after 25 minutes.
Oundle came back into the game with 10 minutes of the first half left when they made the most of some hesitant defending in the home box to score from close range and reduce the arrears to 2-1 at half-time.
Both teams went looking for the next goal in the opening 15 minutes of the second half which made for an open game.
It was Forster again who made it 3-1 to Uppingham with a well-taken goal from within the box.
Uppingham made it 4-1 shortly after with Forster completing his hat-trick when he raced onto a through ball from Montgomery to lob the keeper from the edge of the box.
Oundle reacted well and continued to press forward and forced Tom Hubbard in the Uppingham goal to make two good saves to keep the score at 4-1.
A through ball then caught out the home defence for Oundle to make it 4-2 with a good finish with 15 minutes of the game left.
It was left to Forster to score his fourth and Uppingham's fifth goal of the game to seal the success when he reacted quickly to a long throw into the box and beat the keeper to the bouncing ball to head home.
