Zeeshan Manzoor and his Ketton side prevented Bourne completing a Twenty20 competition double on Wednesday night with a 27-run victory in the Stamford Charity Cup Final.

Bourne had won the Jaidka Cup final on Monday, beating favourites Peterborough Town by 11 runs at Bretton Gate. However it’s now Ketton who have a chance of doing the double in the short form of the game with Ufford Park their opponents in the final of the Stamford Charity Shield at Outgang Road, on Wednesday.

Ketton opened the batting against Bourne, on Stamford Town’s Empingham Road ground in the competition sponsored by SRSN, and after a relatively slow start they upped the run rate to score an impressive 195-3.

Bourne celebrated when opener Josh Gallimore was out for 12 runs, caught off the bowling of Jack Berry, but that brought in man of the match Manzoor.

Manzoor finished with 84 runs from just 39 balls, battering seven sixes and five fours as he raced to a big score alongside Shakir Mahmood (65), with whom he shared a 113 run second wicket partnership.

Rob Dunn removed Mahmood and Max Collins also took a wicket but Ulicht Van Duyker added 19 not out to ease Ketton towards the double ton mark from their 20 overs.

Bourne’s reply started superbly with opener Rob Bentley punishing the opening Ketton bowlers, hitting Zeeshan for 18 off the first over.

By the end of the fourth over Bourne were on 50 runs and on track for victory but Ketton’s bowlers up their game and the wickets began to tumble, Bentley went for 23 and skipper Jack Berry for 20.

Sam Evison (23) and Max Collins (20) made useful contributions but both lost their wickets. With Bourne falling behind the run rate Tom Dixon hit a quick 33 which included four sixes but it was not enough as Bourne closed on 168-8.

Once again Van Duyker was the pick of the Ketton bowlers, finishing with, 3-46, Will Compton took 2-33, Manzoor 2-34, and Cotton 1-30.
