Struggling non-league club Blackstones have appointed their chairman as manager.

Gary Peace was handed the reins last night (August 27) after the Stamford outfit axed boss Dave Stratton following a win-less start to the United Counties League Division One season.

Peace is a former manager of the club’s under 18 and reserve sides. He had a spell in caretaker charge of the first team last season.

Stratton has departed after only seven months at the helm. He couldn’t save Stones from relegation last season after a high number of player departures.

A club statement confirmed: “Blackstones FC has parted company with manager Dave Stratton.

“The club would like to thank Dave for his work in taking over the team during a difficult period in our history.

“Gary Peace has been appointed as manager.”
