Updated: Bourne Town FC has praised the work of manager Darren Munton after he resigned on Saturday.
Munton stepped down as manager of the ChromaSport UCL Division One side after they lost 4-0 away to Eynesbury Rovers.
It comes after he quit the club earlier this season only to be reinstalled a few days later after a meeting with officials.
On Saturday afternoon, club tweeted: “The club are sorry to announce that long-serving manager Darren Munton has handed in his written resignation which has been accepted.”
Club secretary Bob Lambert later paid tribute to Munton’s efforts over the years.
He said: “The club wish to place on record all the hard work, personal time and dedication he has put into the club.
“He never failed to do anything less than 100 per cent in what he did. His commitment to the club could never be questioned.
“Over the seasons he was in charge it was difficult for him to attract the better class of players due to a zero budget, but he called on all his knowledge of local players to complement his squad.
“It has to be said that the past few seasons have been a struggle but with his trusty assistants he got on with job in hand.
“It is safe to say he will be missed but he has agreed to stay on until a replacement is found, a true gesture of Darren.
“Hopefully he will remain on the committee to help the club get back to winning ways. On behalf of the committee, thank you Darren.”
Bourne are third from bottom in the division and have struggled all season.
Elsewhere yesterday, Stamford belted in four against Droylsden who are at the bottom of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division.
Shawn Richards opened the scoring but it took until the 57th minute. It came after the visitors had a man sent off in the first half and the Daniels missed the resulting penalty.
Richard Jones made it 2-0 a couple of minutes later and then Nabil Sheriff made it 3-0 in the 76th minute.
Shariff was then hauled down in the box and Droylsden had another man shown the red card in the 80th minute. Richards stepped up to convert the penalty and make it 4-0.
