Cottesmore 0 Lutterworth Athletic 5
COTTESMORE were punished for silly errors by a Lutterworth side vying for the Leicestershire Senior League title.
The Rutland side were 3-0 down at half-time on Saturday but for much of the first half frustrated the visitors to Rogues Park.
Boss Steve Duffy said: “We did not play too badly.
“We were 1-0 down and still in the game but then lost two goals in two minutes just before half time. We got punished for silly mistakes.
“Until then, we were giving as good as we got.”
Lutterworth arrived with an impressive track record, having scored highly against other sides and beaten higher league opposition in recent cup games.
At the other end of the table, Cottesmore have struggled for points all season but Duffy added: “I am quite pleased with how we played on Saturday.
“The Lutterworth management were encouraging, saying we played better than our league position would suggest.
“It’s so annoying because we played well and the lads’ work ethic is good.”
This weekend, Cottesmore travel to Saffron Dynamo who have also struggled for wins this season and it already looks like a must-win for Cottesmore.
Duffy added: “We have to go there looking for three points.
“I feel a win there will kick start our season.”
The Cottesmore boss, who was without several first team regulars on Saturday also hopes to have his squad strengthened with the return of Mike Feely, Ollie McCann and John Morton.
