Cottesmore’s work is undone by late winner

COTTESMORE drew level twice but were eventually beaten by a late winner when they played Ruddington in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Joint-boss Gary Drake said: “We are looking good in general but keep getting 10-15 minute lulls where we drift off.”

Harry Stannard lobbed the Ruddington keeper for Cottesmore’s first goal, a second half equaliser after the Rutland side had fallen behind in the first half.

Ruddington then regained the lead before new recruit Andre Sontoura brought Cottesmore level for a second time, scoring at a corner. The Nottinghamshire Senior League side added their third late on.

Cottesmore were due to plat an Army side at followed by a home match against Bourne on Saturday in their final warm-up game before the visit of Stapenhill on the opening day of the Leicestershire Senior League season.
