STAMFORD lost 1-0 to local rivals and league leaders Grantham Town yesterday.

The Daniels were undone by Ben Saunders first half goal in front of a Boxing Day crowd of more than 500 at the Meres Stadium.

Despite the defeat, Stamford remain fifth in the final play-off spot in the Evo-Stik League First Division South.

* BLACKSTONES held on for a point against a strong Deeping Rangers at Lincoln Road.

Rangers took an early lead through Matt Heron and they went on to control most of the first half.

A mistake at the back by Chris Logan was punished by Adam Scotcher midway through the half for Stones to draw level.

The second half was more evenly balanced but Rangers had the best chances and will be frustrated not to have come away with all three points.
