The Daniels face their first pre-season match on Wednesday, July 17, and are expecting a good crowd as Rushden and Diamonds roll in to town.
The visitors have a good following after being set up in the wake of the collapse of the football league outfit with the same name.
Daniels boss David Staff is not planning to read too much into Wednesday’s performance but says some of the players are chomping at the bit to prove themselves after the first full week of training.
He said: “We should get over 300 for the game and maybe more if it’s a nice night, but it’s just a chance to get a few ideas of where we are up to and what we can build on.
“We’ve had our first full week of training and the lads have been doing all this running and hard work for a reason.”
One player likely to feature is striker Tom Liversedge who has signed for the Daniels from Loughborough Dynamo.
The Daniels are moving up into the Evo-Stick Premier Division after winning a place in the play-off final in May.
The step up reflects the intensity of the Daniels’ training as the team look to make sure they can compete in a more physical league.
Staff said; “There’s a look of hunger among the lads and some of them have got the bit between their teeth and are looking forward to playing.”
The Daniels expect to have 17 or 18 players on Wednesday. The match is at home and kicks off at 7.45pm.
