Langtoft United enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Peterborborough League Division One rivals Thorney in the Chroma Sports Chairman’s Champion Shield.

The goals came from three Dans – Evans, Jarman and Morris to seal a convincing win.

The Vikings followed this up with a well-earned 2-0 away win at a lively Holbeach Town Reserves thanks to two second-half strikes from Sam Thomson.

The first came from the penalty spot and the second sealed an excellent win in the dying minutes.

The goals were backed up by some solid defending with superb displays from Paul Hatfield and Kier O’Sullivan in the centre. An outstanding flying save from Richard Stainsby also ensured a deserved clean sheet. This was a positive start to the campaign for the newly installed management team of Phil Gadsby and his assistant, James Goode.
