FOOTBALL: Stones boss wary of PNS threat

Have your say

BLACKSTONES joint boss Darren Jarvis expects a tough test when his side face Peterborough Northern Star in the United Counties League this evening.

Stones won their opening league tie 3-1 at Irchester on Saturday but Jarvis said the city side will present a different challenge.

“We are at home but it will be a tough game,” he said. “They have a strong squad.”

He’ll be hoping for a repeat of Michael Nelson’s goalscoring from the weekend, when the striker scored Stones’ first and third goals, the second of which was a superb 30 yard strike.

In between Nelson’s goals, Irchester scored a goal at both ends and Jarvis reckoned his side has the greater number of chances to add to their tally.

He said: “It should have been five of six. We played very well and limited them to just a few chances.”

Blackstones: Lee Crockett, Matt Porter, Ben Porter, Luke Avis, Mark Hackett, Luke Hunnings, Nicki Young (Liam Buttery), Andy Boome (Tom Davies), Michael Nelson, Sam Bettinson, Robbie Pearce (Matt Simpson).

This evening’s game at Lincoln Road kicks off at 7.45pm.
