THE FA Cup comes to town tomorrow with Blackstones and Stamford handed home draws in the competition’s preliminary round.

The Daniels will host East Midlands Counties League side Borrowash Victoria, while Blackstones face higher level opposition from Gresley FC.

Gresley joined Stones’ cross-town rivals Stamford AFC in the Evo-Stik League First Division South this season, winning their opening two games.

They beat Market Drayton 2-0 at home on the opening day and then beat one of last season’s play-off sides, Carlton Town, 1-0 away from home.

Joint Stones boss Michael Goode said: “It will be a really tough game for us but we will go out to win it.

“We are not going to go for a draw. We would rather chance our arm and try to get at them.”

Danny Barker is back for Stones but Luke Avis is away for three weeks.

Stamford have Paul Mayo available for selection for their tie against Borrowash, who have begun their season brightly.

Daniels manager Graham Drury said: “We have had them watched three times. They are a big, strong, good footballing side. We will have to be right on our game.

“Hopefully the town will come out to watch us on Saturday. We’ve scored nine goals in two games so hopefully we’ll give them a show. If we can get a good crowd for the FA Cup it will help.”

Unfortunately both games kick off at 3pm so football fans will have to choose between the two matches.
