Inconsistency costs Ketton

KETTON kept up their inconsistent form by losing 5-2 at home to Netherton Reserves on Saturday.

They were indebted to goalkeeper Jamie Scott in the first half as he kept them in the game but even he couldn’t do anything to stop Netherton grabbing a two goal lead before Paul Richardson headed Ketton back into the game on the half hour mark.

Netherton restored their two goal advantage in the second half before Andy Gray reduced arrears from the penalty spot.

However, once again the home team failed to grab the initiative and the visitors added two more before full time despite more good work from Scott.

Ketton: Jamie Scott, Tim Bradley, Matt Woodman, Johnny Holmes, Scott Holland, Marc McLeod (Will Bird), Alex Collyer, Ian March, Andy Gray (Alex Sismore), Paul Richardson, Kieran Fitzgerald (Jamie Hill). Sub not used: Danny Clarke.

l RYHALL United left it late to snatch all three points against Farcet on Saturday.

Ricky Pozella slotted home his 20th goal of the season in the final minute of play to seal a 3-2 victory.

Ryhall started well and dominated possession but failed to capitalise on several chances that came their way. Richard Wilkinson twice failed to beat the visiting keeper with two early chances, Pozella put an effort wide after he had been picked out by Danny Sheehan and Eddy Pentney failed to convert a good chance before Ryhall finally took the lead thanks to a Pozella close range header on the half hour.

A second goal for Pozella, a sweet left foot strike at start of the second half, was soon followed by a straight red card for a Farcet player, after a late lunge on Josh Manby and the game looked safe.

Wilkinson saw his header cleared off the line as Ryhall pressed forward but with 20 minutes remaining Stuart Moss blocked a cross only to see the ball fly past John Feetham for an own goal.

Just five minutes later Farcet were level, slamming home from the penalty spot.

United were rattled by Farcet’s 10 men and forced to defend deep before Pozella raced clear and slotted past the onrushing keeper to claim his hat-trick and secure three vital points for Ryhall.

Ryhall: J Feetham, R Wilkinson, A Sheehan, S Moss, M Webb, G Williams, D Sheehan, J Manby, E Pentney (J Smith), J Russon (J Sheehan), R Pozella. Match sponsor: Stamford Veterinary Centre.

l BASTON’S promotion hopes took a dent with a 3-2 defeat at Peterborough Rovers in their final game of the season on Saturday.

They went behind to an early penalty but found their way back when Greg Rawlinson cut inside his marker and smashed the ball home to equalise after half an hour.

Rovers retook the lead when their striker lobbed Clarke in goal and they extended their lead in the second half.

Baston pulled one back when Simon Ward’s long ball was headed by a defender past his own goalkeeper for Mantas Buivydas to get the finishing touch late on.

Baston: Rob Clarke, James Markham, Tom Bedford (Matt Barnett), Justas Poderis, Jacob Parkin, Steve Clay, Simon Ward, Scott Waters, Ross O’Loughlin (Ramunas Zickevicius), Greg Rawlinson, Matt Medler (Mantas Buivydas).
