The Daniels’ new international striker Ryan Robbins said making his international debut was a “dream come true” which has brought pride to his whole family.
Robbins started in St Kitts and Nevis’ 6-2 victory over Turks and Caicos Island in the early hours of Tuesday morning at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts.
The match was the first of a double header between the two nations in the first round of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Robbins qualifies for St Kitts through his grandfather and his cousin Harry Panayiotou is already an international for the Caribbean island nation and played alongside him on Tuesday.
Robbins said: “It was a dream come true to earn my first cap and to do it alongside my cousin meant even more.
“It was definitely a special moment for the family and a special moment for our grandma who passed a few years back.
“To see two of her grandchildren represent the country she would of been very proud. I can’t put into words how much it meant to play here and win.
“I just want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the support they have shown and for staying up late and watching. It means so much and is a dream come true.
“I am happy I can come back an tell my son all about it and for him to be proud of me and his cousin.”
The Sugar Boyz fly to Miami later today to prepare for the second leg of the tie on the Caicos Islands on Thursday. The game kicks off at 7pm local time, 11pm UK time.
