Stamford 2 Ilkeston 4

TWO late goals cost Stamford a point at the Premier Kitchens Arena on Saturday.

The Daniels had pulled back twice in the first half with goals from Jake Gibson and Nick Ghislanzoni cancelling strikes from Ilkeston’s Josh Hill and Jack Watts.

Bruno Holden spurned a chance to put Stamford ahead before the break after a blunder by Peterborough Town loanee Alex Archer, who had impressed for Stamford in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

But Ilkeston were the stronger side after the break, dominating possession and James Reid and Gary Ricketts both scored in the last ten minutes to give the visitors all three points.

Ilkeston moved above Stamford in the play-off places where Grantham and Sheffield also both lost. Leaders Carlton Town picked up another three points.

Stamford travel to Sheffield for another top-of-the table six-pointer tomorrow evening. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
