Bourne Reds U10s’ superb five game winning run came to an end with a 2-1 reverse against a resolute Riverside at Yaxley on Saturday.

It was a tight, cagey affair with two good teams giving tremendous effort for their cause.

The Reds started the stronger of the two teams, with Bobby Clark on the left and Tom Cameron on the right giving good width, imposing pressure on the Riverside defence.

Strong defending by Omar Hinks and Nathan Bills, coupled with excellent goalkeeping by Bennett kept Riverside at bay.

Bourne took the lead when a back pass to the Riverside goalkeeper was closed down by Casey Machin and the ball fell to Clark who chipped the goalkeeper to give the Reds a half-time lead.

Riverside started the second half brightly, forcing some brave defending from Hinks.

A neat passing move involving Hinks, Edwards and Clark resulted in Machin narrowly firing wide but when the Reds lost the ball in midfield, a great ball was played to Jack Hampson who scored the equaliser.

With the very last kick of the game Riverside breached the Reds defence and Joseph Potter secured victory.

Bourne: Alfie Bennett, Nathan Bills, Omar Hinks, Tom Cameron, Bobby Clark, Luke Edwards, Casey Machin, Joe Couzens, Ethan Hunt, Adam James, Charlie Wheeler.
