The Daniels got to off to a dream start when in the fourth minute Danny Brooks scored from a free-kick. The big home crowd were immediately fired up and Stamford dominated for the next 10 minutes with Miller having a good chance with a curling shot from the edge of the box.

However Chasetown skipper Teesdale was injured after going up for a high ball with Miller. The game was stopped for a few minutes and that seemed to give Chasetown the chance to regroup. And almost straight away they scored through Gary Hay whose good strike from distance ended up in the bottom left corner of the Daniels’ goal.

Chasetown then found a bit of momentum and began to dominate. Wellcome had a great chance to take the lead for Chasetown but his shot went just wide.

Hall made a great run for Stamford and played in Miller but he was denied a shooting chance.

Chasetown’s Smith then made a strong run which was rewarded with corner, but Stamford managed to clear it.

Not long before half-time Chasetown had a good shout for a penalty but it wasn’t given and the sides went in level at the break.

The Daniels again started brightly in the second half when Byrne played Miller through but good defending from Robinson denied the Stamford striker a shot on goal.

Miller then had two good chances but one went narrowly over and the other went high and wide.

Chasetown then survived a goalmouth scramble thanks to some good cover defending.

The game then became a bit cagey but just as the chances were becoming few and far between Ben Saunders played in Miller who still had some work to do but managed to put the ball away in the Chasetown goal. Miller was booked for waving his shirt in celebration.

He nearly scored again just moments later after Hall played him in on the break, but his shot was narrowly wide.
