Blackstones manager Dave Stratton says his patience with his predecessors at the football club has finally broken.

The Stones manager, who replaced Darren Jarvis and Michael Goode at the helm of the Stamford side in January, has seen a string of his players approached by the duo who moved to Peterborough Northern Star.

Some players were with his blessing but after agreeing Joe Hopewell would be the last to leave this summer, the PNS pair made and approach for Matt Porter.

Stratton said: “I won’t be doing them any more favours. It’s not fair on the players.

“We let them have Joe Hopewell and we agreed he would be the last to go to PNS. Then they come for Matt Porter.”

On Saturday, Stones made hard work of a point at home to Kempston Rovers, who had not won in 12 games.

There were plenty of chances for both sides with Lee Crockett denying Stacey Field early on, and Andy Boome and James Curran missing good chances for Stones.

Sam Strange headed over early in the second half as Blackstones continued to create openings but failed to take them.

Kempston took the lead when Joe Bradbury put the visitors ahead in the 64th minute but Crockett’s point blank save from Taavi Trasberg’s header kept Stones in the game and with six minutes remaining substitute Andy Beech turned in Addie Staffieri’s ball from the left to rescue a point.

Stratton said: “I thought we were off the pace in the first half but we should have scored 10 in the second.

“At half time I gave the first rollicking that I have had to and they responded.

“I came away reasonably happy with the second half performance. If only we had played like that in the first.”

Stones travel to Stratton’s former stomping ground, Yaxley, on Saturday.

He’ll definitely be without Sam Mancuso, who has left the club, and possibly striker Michael Nelson who didn’t play for the reserves on Saturday. Both players were unhappy at delayed payments last week.

“I suspect Michael will not play for the club again,” said Stratton.
