THE Daniels have appointed John Drewnicki as chairman following the death of Ken Joynson.
John has served for many years on the club board and is well known in the business community of Stamford and Peterborough for his considerable commercial acumen and business contacts that will help develop the Daniels’ off-field activities.
Stamford’s director’s have also welcomed David Whitby to the board. He is a successful businessman who lives in Oundle, and is well known to many people at the Club as a influential Daniels midfield player from the 1980s.
l THE Daniels pre-season fixtures will begin with a match against Boston United at the Vic Couzens Stadium on Tuesday, July 19. Kick off will be at 7.45pm.
Stamford’s defence of The County Shield is part of the pre-season programme with a home fixture against Brigg Town on Saturday, July 23 at 3pm.
In the return of last season’s fixture at Lincoln Road, Blackstones will travel over the town bridge to The Daniels stadium on Tuesday, July 26 for a 7.45pm kick off.
Additional fixtures will be announced when confirmed with opponents.
l DANIELS youth team players Max Avory, 17, and Jake Walton, 18, both featured in the second leg of the annual U19 Anglo-Welsh cup held recently at Garden Village, Swansea.
Right back Avory and centre midfielder Walton both produced good performances in a 3-1 defeat to lose 4-3 on aggregate.
