Leek Town 2 Stamford 0
STAMFORD’s hopes of sealing a place in the promotion play-offs took a massive blow at Leek yesterday evening.
The Daniels lost 2-0, falling behind to Adam Roberts’ opening goal inside the first 60 seconds.
Roberts added a second midway through the first half and although Stamford put pressure on their hosts towads the end of the first half, they couldn’t find a route back.
The task became even more difficult when winger Matthieu Isamene was carried off with a suspected broken leg in the second half.
Daniels boss Tommy Brookbanks received his marching orders over the incident which took place on the touchline, and Stamford, who had already used all their substitutes, were forced to play on with ten men.
The Daniels remain fifth - in the final play-off spot - but Leek are now just one point behind with a game in hand.
Stamford’s next match is at Goole on Saturday. Kick off is at 3pm.
