DANIELS boss Graham Drury has announced new siging Richard Jones has been made the club’s new captain.

Centre back Jones has previously played for Blackstones and Peterborough Northern Star and spent the second half of last season with Drury at Corby Town.

Drury said: “We managed to persuade him to join us over staying at Corby Town which is fantastic.

“He picked up man-of-the-match a few times during his time at Corby last year and hugely impressed me.

“He’s a big lad and very quick so he will certainly be a key asset to the team.

“I’ve tried signing him five or six times in the past because he is a great leader. He also shows a positive attitude on and off the pitch and coming to Stamford will be a good stepping stone for him.

“He raised his game well in the Conference North last year and showed he was capable of playing at that level so I expect big things from him this season.”
