STAMFORD dropped three points to play-off rivals Carlton Town at the Premier Kitchens Arena on Saturday.

Nick Hall’s left-footed strike half an hour into the game was enough to seal the win for the visitors on a day when the Daniels were well below their best.

Ross Whalin saved a second half spot-kick from Ruben Wiggins-Thomas while at the other end the Daniels were restricted to set-pieces for the majority of the game.

The result, coupled with Sheffield’s draw at home to Loughborough, pushed the Daniels down to fifth in the Evo-Stik First Division South.

* STAMFORD play Anstey Nomads in a friendly at Leicester tomorrow evening (kick off 7.30pm) before returning to league action at against Belper Town on Saturday (3pm).
