A GOALLESS draw brought an end to Stamford’s home fixtures in 2011 with only this afternoon’s away match to Barwell to go.

On Saturday the Daniels drew 0-0 with Rainworth Miners Welfare but had a glorious late chance to overcome fellow strugglers Rainworth when Dan Cotton fired over from point-blank range late on.

Manager Simon Clark said: “Dan got a horrible bobble at just the wrong moment and ended up shinning the ball over.”

The draw came jjust days after Stamford’s Lincolnshire Senior Shield triumph at Boston and Clark added: “It’s a shame we couldn’t follow up the cup success with a league win but I think the effort we put in on Tuesday took its toll. Three or four lads were half-a-yard off the pace.”

Stamford are now without a win in eight league games ahead of their final outing at champions Barwell today.
