Blackstones recorded a third successive United Counties League Division One victory after a 2-1 success at Irchester United on Saturday.

A goal in each half from Jones De Sousa and Joe Papworth helped maintain Stones’ grip on fourth spot despite the Romans halving the deficit with 10 minutes remaining. The home side had gone into contest unbeaten in their last nine league games.

Bourne Town bounced back to winning ways with a 2-1 away victory at Bugbrooke.

The Wakes fell behind after just four minutes, but Zak Munton netted for the second successive game on the stroke of half-time to bring Bourne level.

Adam Rothery then scored his 13th goal of the season midway through the second period to secure a win which moved Bourne up to 10th place.

Oakham United suffered late heartbreak after a 3-2 away loss at Harrowby United.

The visitors had raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening half-hour through Steve Jucikas and Scott Waumsley.

However, Evan Fieldhouse brought Harrowby back into the contest just two minutes after Oakham had doubled their lead.

Fieldhouse added his second to get the Arrows back on level terms and, just as it looked like Oakham would hold out for a vital point, Sam Grouse grabbed a 90th minute winner for Harrowby.
