New striking sensation Danny Pick stole the show as Bourne Town caused a major ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Divison KO Cup shock tonight (September 24).

The wonderful Wakes claimed their best result of a difficult season when sinking higher-level Yaxley 2-1 in a preliminary round clash at the Abbey Lawn.

Darren Munton’s men were unfortunate to fall behind on the stroke of half-time, but they delivered a rousing response in the second period to extend their unbeaten run to four matches.

Pick was the star Bourne turn as he bagged a brace for the second successive match.

The reserve team graduate hauled them level when converting an Alec Robinson cut-back in the 69th minute and popped up with a stoppage time winner when coolly firing past Yaxley number one Aaron Butcher to seal a memorable success.

Deeping also advanced with a 4-0 triumph at lower-level Harrowby.

Matt Heron set Rangers on the way to victory with the opening goal after a quarter-of-an-hour.

An Alex Beck strike and a second Heron effort within the space of two second-half minutes sealed their passage before Ryan Oliver added further gloss to the scoreline in stoppage time.

Blackstones’ wait for a first win of the season continues after they went down to a 4-1 loss at higher-level AFC Kempston Rovers.

Andy Boome fired them ahead but they were pegged back on the stroke of half-time before the hosts took command in the second period.

Stamford AFC remain in the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier Division relegation zone following a 2-0 defeat at Matlock Town.

The Daniels were undone by two goals in the space of three second-half minutes from Town forward Daniel Holland.
