WITH less than a month until Royce Rangers Junior Football Club’s 2012-13 season gets underway with the club’s annual Football Fun Day, the club is keen for new players to become involved.
Royce were formed almost 40 years ago in 1974, initially playing at Royce Playing Fields in Oakham. Today the club boasts more than 250 players aged from five to 16 years.
Secretary Stacey Underwood said: “New members are welcome at all age groups but we are particularly keen to recruit 15-year-old boys for our forthcoming U16 team.
“The season restarts on September 1 with a Football Fun Day at our ground from midday until 3pm to which everyone is welcome.”
The fun day at Royce’s Showground home in Lands’ End Way, Oakham, is free to join.
The club hosts a Soccer School for boys and girls aged five to eight on Saturday mornings from 10am until midday from September to April, and Royce’s older footballers represent the Oakham club in a range of age groups in the Leicestershire leagues.
All coaching is under the supervision of FA Level 1 coaches with regular mid-week training on Oakham School’s floodlit astroturf pitches.
Annual membership is £60 per child, covering training sessions, insurance, league registrations, and the provision of equipment and team kit. The cost is £55 for a second family child. Third and additional children are £10. Match fees, home and away, are £2.50.
